This safari gives you the two ultimate safari experiences like the game drives in Akagera National park and gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National park. The Akagera National Park is the only savannah park in Rwanda hosting variety of big mammals with the most sought after being the lions, giraffes, buffaloes, and the hippos which will provide a great photographic moment. After the experience, proceed to Volcanoes National Park for the great encounter with the mountain gorillas.

Day 1: Arrival at the Airport
Upon your arrival at the Airport, you are welcomed by our company guide who will then drive you to your hotel in Kigali city. Dinner and overnight at Kigali Marriot Hotel/ Hotel Villa portion/Yambi Hotel.
Day 2: Kigali city tour & transfer to Akagera National Park
After having breakfast, we take the Kigali city tour as we visit the key places including the Genocide memorial site, craft centers, Kandt National museum etc. you choose which sites to visit because in the afternoon, we proceed to Akagera National Park after having lunch in the city. AKagera National Park is situated in eastern Rwanda and the journey takes 2 hours arriving late afternoon continuing to the lodge for check in. You can have short stopovers enroute to Akagera National Park for photo moments of the great land scape and people. Dinner and overnight at Magshi Camp/Ruzizi tented Camp/Akagera Game Lodge. Day 3: Exploring Akagera National Park
Wake up so early and have breakfast to explore Akagera National Park in search for the big mammals like the elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, antelopes, as well as lions. Most of the game drives happen in the afternoon. Akagera National Park is the biggest in Rwanda with beautiful scenery and land scape. It has varied habitats for wildlife as well as a birders haven with over 500 species in the park. There are also opportunities to explore the park on foot together with a ranger by taking a nature walk, this can be incorporated on request most especially in the afternoon. You have a chance of a boat safari on Lake Ihema to watch the hippos and crocodiles in the water or by the shores.
Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Have breakfast and relieve the great safari experience in Akagera National Park before transferring to Volcanoes National Park where the massive gentles giants live. It’s a natural habitat for the mountain gorillas offering the perfect environment and food for the gorillas. Volcanoes National Park is located in northern Rwanda about 2 hours from Kigali city, get to enjoy several villages with great land scape views. You can ask the driver to stop for some photos at different viewpoints as you see the endless hills. We shall arrive ask the driver to stop for picture moments at different viewpoints so that you can see the endless hills and understand why indeed Rwanda is referred to as the land of thousand hills. We will arrive to the lodge that evening ready for gorilla hike the next day. Dinner and overnight at Five volcanoes/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge/Garden palace hotel.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking & a community walk
Get to wake up so early and have breakfast as you wait to be taken to the headquarters for briefing. You have to request your hotel to give you packed lunch and enough drinking water. The time taken tracking mountain gorillas is unpredictable but we estimate between 2 to 6 hours at most. The activity can be very challenging but the opportunity to see a group of gorillas in the wild is very special indeed. The safety and security of visitors while tracking mountain gorillas is guaranteed as the gorillas are generally calm and peaceful. Get time to take photos of the group as you will be with them for only one hour. You have to remain calm even when they get close to you and follow guidance from your park guide.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch as you prepare to visit the community to enjoy their way of life. Later on return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at The Five Volcanoes Lodge/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge/ Hotel Muhabura. Meal plan: Full board
Day 6: Departure
We hope you had a fantastic time exploring the wildlife and culture of Rwanda and will look back at these memories with smile. This is the last day of your safari, after a lazy morning we start the journey to Kigali for your return flight or Hotel. In case your flight is later in the night, you can add an optional activity like Golden Monkey trekking, Hike one of the Virungas, Visit Dian Fossey tomb and get to learn about her conservation work.
